Curriculum At St. Peter's College

The St. Peter’s College Vision & Strategic Plan makes this declaration about curriculum:

We believe that by providing a rich, relevant and diverse curriculum, students have the best possible opportunities to strive for excellence, and to explore and develop their gifts and abilities.

This year marks a number of significant developments in the curriculum at St Peter’s College.

• All units in years 7 to 10 will be taught and reported on using Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS).
• The consolidation and refinement of the Culture of Learning philosophy.
• The consolidation and refinement of the Submission of Student Work policy - Years 7-10.

Culture of Learning

The Culture of Learning underpins the entire curriculum at St Peter’s College.  As a philosophy it seeks to:-
• Promote and recognise a commitment to excellence
• Inspire lifelong learning
• Develop an increased responsibility for learning amongst students and staff
• Support and encourage staff and students in their pursuit of excellence

Submission of Student Work – Years 7-10

One of the key life skills for anyone is to learn how to manage their time, so that they can meet deadlines and complete work on time.  We believe the Submission of Student Work policy will help students to:-
• Complete Homework, Coursework and Assessment Tasks on time;
• Complete all work so that it meets the requirements of the tasks set;
• Understand and meet their academic obligations as students at the College;
• Develop sound study habits at home and school;
• Provide some tools to help them have a successful year at school.

VCE, VET and VCAL

VCE, VET and VCAL represent the culmination of a student’s secondary education.  As such the importance of these final two years cannot be underestimated.  St Peter’s College is acutely aware of this and places great emphasis through its’ Culture of Learning on providing students with the opportunity to achieve excellence.
